Celluma Skin Care Protocols
Celluma
Acne,
Wrinkles,
& more
For optimal results, it is important to use Celluma on a regular basis. An ideal acne protocol is 3 times a week unless directed otherwise by your physician. Celluma may be used more frequently if desired. For best results follow these tips and recommendations:
- Phototherapy is very safe. If you wish, you may use Celluma every day.
- The more often Celluma is used, the faster you may see results.
- Important: Place Celluma as close as possible to the area being treated – the closer the better.
- Use Celluma over clean, dry, bare skin only.
- Remove any sunblock, make-up, lotions, moisturizers, or clothing that may act as a barrier.
- Use Celluma on the Acne program for the full 30 minutes.
- Celluma will automatically switch off at the end of the 30 minutes.
- Celluma can be used on different areas of the body on the same day.
- When treating the face, try to raise the head so the face is as close as possible to the Celluma.
- Use the safety goggles/eyewear provided.
- To treat the face:
- Place your head on a small pillow or folded towel or sit in a recliner. Wrap Celluma around the head and tuck the ends under a pillow or towel.
- Tent over the face. This position works better if the head is resting on a pillow or folded towel which raises the face closer to the lights.
LED Therapy – Esthetic Treatment Guidelines
Light therapy is the application of specific wavelengths of light to tissue to obtain therapeutic benefits. Research* has shown that “LED is an effective therapeutic modality to promote the healing of skin wounds.” The biological effects promoted by this therapy “are related to the decrease in inflammatory cells, increased fibroblast proliferation, angiogenesis stimulation, formation of granulation tissue, and increased collagen synthesis.” LED therapy is also known for its ability to rejuvenate skin, treat acne, decrease inflammation, and increase micro-circulation.
Using LED Therapy
LED therapy can be used as a powerful stand-alone or add-on to most spa-menu services. For maximum benefit, a 30-minute treatment is recommended. Always use clean, dry skin as lotions, creams, and serums may decrease effectiveness by restricting light penetration.
Blue, red, and near-infrared are the most commonly used wavelengths in LED light therapy. These specific wavelengths are well-researched and scientifically proven to produce therapeutic benefits. Blue penetrates through the epidermis and is known to kill C. acnes bacteria. Red reaches into the dermal layer and has been shown to enhance collagen and elastin production through photo biostimulation of fibroblasts. Near-infrared penetrates deepest and increases micro-circulation (tissue repair), decreases inflammation, and attenuates pain.
When treating a client, the technician will select the wavelength or program most appropriate for the condition being treated. Based on the consultation using the intake form, the technician will determine the client’s needs and concerns.
